How to Start Spring Cleaning Your Room

As the new season starts, people tend to declutter their room and get rid of things that are no longer in use. Oftentimes, they encounter a problem: they may have items that they hold close to their heart and don’t want to throw them away or they may not know where to start cleaning. Here are some tips on how to begin your spring cleaning!

1. Plan your goals

Before you start cleaning, plan exactly what you are trying to throw away and what sections of your room you want to clean. This helps you get a gist of what you will be doing, and you won’t feel overwhelmed during the process of your spring cleaning.

2. Get rid of easy items first

Go through your room and clear out anything that you no longer hold sentimental value toward. Starting with more simple things will allow you to acclimate yourself to the decluttering process and be in the mindset of cleaning. It also motivates you to continue organizing your room!

3. Figure out your wants vs. needs

There will be many items that you want to save because of the memories they remind you of, but it’s important to consider if they will actually hold any usefulness in the near future. Ask yourself, “Will I really use this item, or do I just want to keep it?” With this in mind, you will see how letting go of things isn’t as difficult as it seems.

4. Clean your room

After finishing getting rid of the item you don’t need, it is now time to clean your room! Wash your bed sheets, vacuum your floor, and wipe down all the dust that you see. After this process, your room will now be ready for the new season!

Spring cleaning is not an easy task as people typically don’t have the motivation to start, but it’s something everyone should do. Not only will you feel more refreshed, but your room will also be organized and spacious. To continue, letting go of items will bring you joy because you realize how you’re capable of living a minimalist and happy life.
